Gavan or Gaz psyllid, Cyamophila astragalicola Gegechkori, is the manna producing insect for Khansar Gaz production. This manna accounts as one of the most important rangeland products. In this study the complemetary aspects of its life cycle were investigated on its host plant Astragalus adscendens Boiss. For this purpose three localities in the west of Isfahan province were selected and samplings were conducted every 7-10 days. Samples included 20 terminal branches 30 cm long. The number of eggs, nymphs and adult psyllids were counted in each sample. Number of generations per year was studied by use of 12 bags. Twenty last instar nymphs were used in each bag on a branch. Fecundity of female Gaz psyllid was determined by keeping 1-3 adult couples in 8 bags on host plant. In this study it was determined that C. astragalicolahas 5 instars although it does not comply with the previous reports. The first nymphal instar appeared in mid June and then after 100 to 111 days in mid September, adult insects emerged. Average number of ovipostion was 136 per female with the maximum number of 265. The adult psyllids mate either before or after winter. This psyllid overwinters as adult on foliage, inside of scab, petiol and other suitable places on host plant or soil surface when lower branches touch the ground due to snow weight in winter. This psyllid insect has only one generation per year.
