Abstract

Evaluating ecological potential means getting the natural potential of land. By evaluating this process of land degradation goes at a slower pace.10% of Fars province's forests are located in Firozabad Country. The main goal of this research is to evaluate the ecological potential for commercial and protective forestry in the Firozabad country using common methods and a new method in GIS. Evaluation was based on conservational forestry in this study and two ways were used: at first threshold of topographic criterion of main model was changed and the next way topographic criterion was eliminated. For Commercial forestry topographic criterion was considered as the initial classification. For evaluating ecological potential for commercial and protection forestry the following methods were used: Makhdum, Maximum Limition, Arithmetic Mean, EMOLUP and its Calibration and the Simple Weighting Mean and Weighting Arithmetic Mean with considering limiting factors and its calibration. The results showed that the best evaluation model for both kinds of forestry was the Geometric Mean model and its calibration in Firozabad County. By changing the thresholds of topographic criteria and then by eliminating topographic criteria, accuracy of almost all models were increased. By comparing the three models of forestry landuse together, protection forestry by removing topographic criterion showed the better capability in this region, indicating the forests have conservational potential in the Firozabad region. In the end, for the ecological assessment of forestrylanduse in Firozabad County, EMOLUP method was recommended with using the conservation forestry landuse model by removing the topographic criteria.
