Abstract

In this study seeds of Moghair collected from different parts of Hormozgan province were examined to measure damage rate and biology as well as control methods of the dominant pest species. Damage rate was over 53%o for the stored seeds which in turn makes some diffrcaults in seedling production. Bruchidius sahlbergi (Col.: Bruchidae) was identified as the dominant seed-affecting species. Average generation time of the insect is 2 to 3 months. in terms of control measures, a complete randomized design with 19 treatments and 3 replications were applied. Heat of 100'C and 75 minutes duration was the best treatunent in terms of germination rate and handling to control the seed pest. Pest control and seed germination rates were recorded as 82 and 78.67 percent respectively.
