Abstract

In the course of study on biology of ash psillid; Psyllopsis repens and associated natural enemies in Hamedan Province in 2001-2003, two parasitoid wasps, Psyllaephagus claripes Trjapitzim and Marietta zebrota (Mercet) (Hym.: Aphelinidae) were collected and identified on fifth nymphal stage of the pest. They were collected in all three sampling sites, (Shahrdari Carden of Hamedan, Gardene-y-Asad Abad and Asad-Abad with 1600,2200 and 1800 m. altitudes, respectively). Adults of the wasps, M. zebrata and P. claripes emerged from early to late July and from early August to early September, respectively. P. clarips was more efficient in parasitizing the host than M. zebrata. Up to 80% of fifth nymphal stage of P. fraeini were attacked by P. claripes but M. zebrata was collected rarely P. claripes had parasitic activity on the first and second generations of the host pest. Higher parasitism rate was on the second leneration compared to the first one. This is the first report for P. claripe from Iran.
