Report of two cynipid galligenous species Andricus multiplicatus and A. burgundus from Iran

Abstract

In the course of a survey carried out in order to identification of oak gall insects, during 2003-2004 in west Azarbaijan province, two different galls were collected on Quercus libaniiforthe first time.
Based on the gall shapes, gall maker wasps were identified. These names were then confirmed by Dr.George Melika  from systematic parasitoids laboratory of Kozek, Hungary.
These two gall wasps species are:

 Andricus multiplicatus Giraud (Hym.: Cynipidae)

Date and location of gall collection: June 2004-Mir abad

Andricus burgundus Giraud (Hym.: Cynipidae)

Date and location of gall collection: April 2004-Rabat
The kind of gall were formed through conglomeration of the leaves as rossete shape (14-16 mm in diameter ) on June by A. multiplicatus activity. Produced gall by A. burgundus activity, is formed on the catkins with 6-8 mm diameter.
These two species are new records for fauna of Iran.
